How to Request Chester County Public Records
South Carolina's Freedom of Information Act governs all public records requests in Chester County. The law is found at Title 30, Chapter 4 of the SC Code. Any person may submit a written FOIA request to the appropriate Chester County office. There is no required form, though some offices provide one. Written requests can be mailed, emailed, or delivered in person to the County Administrator's office.
Under the law, agencies must respond within 10 business days for records two years old or less. Records older than two years require a 20-business-day response.
